The world has long been waiting for a strong, long-lasting motorcycle drive chain. Traditional chain manufacturer REGINA, based in northern Italy, has now made that wish a reality. This new carbon-coated motorcycle chain brings a product to market capable of fulfilling every wish. Durability comparable to Regina’s strongest chains, maintenance-free operation – in other words, never having to lubricate the chain again – and therefore better environmental compatibility are the major advantages of this innovative new motorcycle chain. The chain can already be ordered as a factory option at extra cost on BMW’s top S 1000 RR and S 1000 R models. This can certainly be seen as a mark of quality, as the S 1000 RR produces well over 200 BHP. That proves the quality! A huge advantage of these chains is that they do not require specially coated front or rear sprockets. No chain spray needs to be applied either, significantly reducing maintenance. Nor does flung-off chain grease end up in the environment. Durability should also benefit considerably, as many chains fail through inadequate care. Regina even quotes lower friction for this High-Performance HPE chain, allowing more engine power to reach the rear wheel. No lubrication and improved performance are compelling arguments for this chain. The chain is available. Initially it came in 525 pitch, but as it has proved so successful, the 520 chain has now followed. Perhaps the 530 chain will follow in 2023 too; we shall see.
