This chain length is assigned to all motorcycle models fitted as standard with a 520 chain of 116 links.

The world has long been waiting for a strong, durable motorcycle drive chain. The traditional northern Italian chain manufacturer REGINA has now fulfilled this wish. Its new carbon-coated motorcycle chain brings a product to market capable of meeting every wish. Durability comparable with Regina's strongest chains, maintenance-free operation – in other words, never lubricating the chain again – and therefore better environmental compatibility are the major advantages of this innovative new chain. It can already be ordered as a factory option at extra cost on BMW's top S 1000 RR and S 1000 R models. That can certainly be regarded as a sign of quality, since the S 1000 RR produces well over 200 BHP. Its quality is therefore proven! A huge advantage of these chains is that they do not need specially coated front or rear sprockets. No chain spray needs to be applied either, greatly reducing maintenance. In addition, no flung-off chain grease ends up in the environment. Durability should also benefit considerably, as many chains fail through lack of care. Regina even specifies a lower coefficient of friction for this High-Performance HPE chain, allowing more engine power to reach the rear wheel. No lubrication and increased power are compelling arguments for this chain. The chain is available. It was initially offered only in 525 size, but its success has now led to the addition of a 520 version. Perhaps a 530 chain will follow in 2023; we shall see. The chains are supplied open with a solid-rivet connecting link.
