Café racer rear frame brace for Yamaha XJR 1200 & XJR 1300 (1995–2013)
This rear frame brace is the right solution for anyone shortening the rear frame of their Yamaha XJR 1200 or XJR 1300 for a café racer, scrambler or individual custom bike conversion. It securely connects the two shortened rear frame tubes and restores the necessary stability at the rear.
The XJR rear frame brace is inserted into the shortened rear frame tubes and then bolted in place. Welding is possible but not essential – ideal for tidy conversions that remain easy to service.
Your benefits at a glance
- Strong connection between the shortened rear frame tubes
- Bolt-on installation – welding optional
- Mounting points for number plate holders (e.g. Rizoma PT061B)
- Mounts for rear lights
- Designed for oval LED rear lights (e.g. part no. 255-978)
Application & function
Particularly on café racer conversions, the rear frame is often shortened, removing the connecting structure between the two frame tubes. This brace restores precisely that connection, stabilises the rear and provides useful mounting options for the number plate and rear light.
Installation
- Shorten the rear frame professionally and squarely.
- Insert the brace into both rear frame tubes.
- Align it and bolt it in place.
- The brace can optionally also be welded.
Fits
- Yamaha XJR 1200 (1995–1998)
- Yamaha XJR 1300 (1999–2013)
Practical advice (Klaus Goerz)
For café racer rear ends, I recommend coordinating the number plate holder, rear light and seat shape early on. This creates a harmonious, classic rear end without later compromises in appearance or stability.
